Well, this game tells you right from the start on Steam that it is not a game in VR, it’s more of a rail riding game where you just sit and wait to see what happens next. The scares in this were mostly predictable, but some of them did get me. The fact you can’t move and are forced to just sit there does make it a bit creepy as you are just waiting for whatever to happen to happen next. Lots of things jumping out and scaring you and the visuals were pretty cool. If you want something to test out the capabilities of the VR and would like to try and get scared, this is the game for you. Enjoy the scary wheelchair simulation!

Let’s Play PAGAN PEAK VR (Steam VR)
You find yourself skidding out in your car and next thing you know waking up inside an isolated cabin in the middle of nowhere. There are scary Pagan masked people stalking you outside the cabin in the cold as you have to look around and try to figure out several puzzles on how to get out of the cabin. Once you make a break for it on the outside, you’ve gotta run and escape before the scary people catch you. There are several choices and diffrent paths you can take through this game, and I chose almost all of the different paths out of curiosity in this playthrough. Overall, pretty fun and the puzzles made you think. The suspense was pretty cool too as you never knew when something else was going to happen.
Let’s Play Propagation VR (Steam VR)
This is basically a wave based shooter game in VR that has you standing in place and taking out hordes of zombies that come in different variants, as well as a few creatures like giant spiders that eventually come for you. Once you get past the obvious final boss, you win the game. I played this on normal just to get my bearings, and I’m glad I did. You only get a limited amount of lives to continue through the game, and it does get really hard, especially for the fact that you just cannot move or walk around. You’ve got to be quick with your pistol and shotgun, and there is no laser sight in this game like there was for Resident Evil 4 VR, so it makes it even harder. Your health is based on regeneration, but when you get swarmed you go down fast. Not bad for a free VR game on Steam, but I can definitely see how RE4 VR capitalized on something like this and made it way more enjoyable and playable.
Let’s Play Resident Evil 4 VR
When this was first announced for VR, it was shortly after getting a VR, so I was super happy that the timing all worked out for this. I knew I definitely wanted to play this immediately, and it all just fell on Halloween in 2021 for the official playthrough to start! So much fun! Lots of standing, but so much fun! I played this on easy not knowing what to expect in VR, but I realized that I really got the hang of playing games in VR, so easy became really too easy for me. I’m ready for the next difficulty now, and I’ll be doing that in my next playthrough. Apologies for the game lag here and there, the Oculus Quest 2 doesn’t have a lot of support when it comes to streaming on Twitch, and using their casting technique isn’t the greatest right now. Hopefully in due time better options will come out for Oculus exclusive game streaming to websites like Twitch!
Let’s Play Test Subject 901 (Steam VR)
Yep, this is a game, lol. When I first got my VR headset in the form of an Oculus Quest 2, I scoured the Steam free to play games list looking for scary games to play that might take me to my limit. I came across this one and many others, but this one definitely stood out compared to all of the rest. You are locked inside a containment chamber and need to find three card keys to escape and get to safety. Only problem is, there’s a monster locked in with you and it will absolutely destroy you. You need to sneak around and advance through the short story while implementing stealth to avoid detection so you can make it out alive. This game scared me once so bad it knocked me literally on my ass in VR. This is one crazy game, I definitely recommend it!
Let’s Play Grave of the Petrified (Steam VR)
Thanks to my wonderful community at Croakitoad on Twitch, I was finally able to purchase my very first VR headset in the form of the Oculus Quest 2! I quickly went to Steam and looked through the free to play horror games utilizing the technology and found this game among many others. This is the very first game (outside of Phasmophobia) that I ever played in VR, and it was actually really cool and wicked for being a free game! While it is rather short and just a fetch quest for three items before leaving the room, it can get pretty scary at times, especially when Medusa is chasing you around and looks incredible in VR! For anyone new to VR gaming and looking for a game to kind of test out the capabilities, I actually recommend this game to get your feet wet! I really enjoyed this, and look forwards to maybe something more coming from this game. You don’t see too many Medusa-based games really at all, so this was pretty unique!
Killing Jason in Friday the 13th: The Game
Obviously, we were all helping each other do this, but this is what it takes to actually stun Jason Voorhees after knocking his hockey mask off and actually killing him in Friday the 13th: The Game. Can you imagine trying to get this all legit while Jason is actually trying to come at you? Pretty tough, I’d say. I’ve never been able to do it in a legit game, but I think a lot of us were curious what it looked like when you could actually pull this off.
Directions: You need several female characters to do this, you’ll need two of those characters to die after finding the radio and calling in Tommy Jarvis for help. Once one of those characters has died and comes back as Tommy, you’ll need another female character to find the sweater on the Camp Crystal Lake map from Jason’s shack and to be wearing it. Once you have Tommy and a female wearing the mother’s sweater, you’ll need to trigger the sweater confusion on Jason by pressing Q. While Jason is his confused animation, have a character bash him in the back to knock him on his knees. At that time, the person playing as Tommy Jarvis can press Q with a machete or an axe to initiate the death kill for Jason and effectively winning the game. Only the person who was playing as Tommy Jarvis will unlock the achievement, however.
Trying out Sonic.EXE for the first time
Well, this is one of the most popular Creepypasta games ever created, so I figured for Horror Month 2021 I might as finally dip my hand into it and see what all the fuss was about. I have to admit, at first I was taken aback by what I was seeing, but after a while it just made me wonder why so many people got scared of this when it first came out? I get that if small children played this they’d probably be freaked out, but people old enough to remember and play Sonic the Hedgehog should know better, right? Maybe not, I don’t know. Maybe all the years of horror video gaming has desensitized me to the point where really nothing in Sonic.EXE really bothered me, lol. Either way, I can say I’ve finally tried it out for myself.
Let’s Play Resident Evil 2 “R.P.D. Demo”
Not to be confused with the “One Shot” demo, this was another demo released in December 2019 just before the game’s release and dubbed the “R.P.D. Demo” which allowed for you to collect the journal with the puzzle statue solutions, meet Marvin and come back to talk to him after exploring a bit of the police station. The demo ends right as you return and he informs you about the second floor east side of the station. I remember playing this demo upon its release and being so hyped up for the release of Resident Evil 2. I had to replay through it again (despite the game being out for several years) just so I could relive those feelings I had thinking about a remake of the game finally happening after decades of waiting!
An hour of Unreal Tournament 2004
Decided to jump onto Unreal Tournament 2004 for the first time since my Unreal Championship days on the original Xbox just to try it out and see what kind of nostalgia I could jump into! There was quite a bit, as I could remember certain characters and even a few maps from those old Xbox days. This was a lot of fun, too. We definitely need more people to jump on this next time around and play with us! I’d love to see a full 16 player lobby full of community members playing this, but maybe someday we’ll achieve that dream. For now though, this was a fun stroll down memory lane and a nod to what could possibly happen again in the future!
Three hours of GoldenEye: Source
This was a Twitch.tv community challenge redemption that was 100%’d by the community, so we all jumped on GoldenEye: Source to try it out. This was my first time ever playing GoldenEye multiplayer at all and it was a lot of fun to try out especially with a lot of friends joining me. I was glad to hear about all the nostalgia trips everybody was getting from playing GoldenEye 007 back in the day on the Nintendo 64, which was super fun to be a part of. I think the later matches taking place at the Cradle map were a lot of fun and probably the peak of the session, I definitely want to come back and try this out again with more peeps and just have a whole lot of fun. I didn’t know what to expect going into this, but I am definitely impressed and would like to see more of it soon!
50-Fighter Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Simulation Tournament
This was by far my biggest concept yet for my monthly Smash Bash Tournament I do once a month on my Twitch livestream channel! I selected fifty characters from the community to be represented in the game and we held a one night only single elimination tournament in what was the biggest Smash Bash Tournament ever conducted! This was really fun and awesome to watch, considering a lot of characters got some action that didn’t usually see the time of die when being picked by community members. I think for my next major challenge, I’ll either try to have every single Smash Brothers character be represented, or we’ll do a giant 2v2 simulation tournament next time! Either way, my ambitions are big and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
